After returning to her native Colorado upon completing her graduate studies in Boston, Ms. Sweat practiced in the areas of estate planning, income tax planning and general business law at Denver-area law firms.
Ms. Sweat represents clients in commercial transactions, including private equity structuring, foreign investor structuring in U.S. real estate investments, and mergers and acquisitions, and also provides innovative income tax planning for businesses and individuals. She works with clients in various stages of business operations, assisting them with formation, executive compensation plans, mergers and acquisitions and exit strategies.
Kristen also provides creative estate planning services to individuals, including the preparation of wills and trusts, the creation of charitable organizations and the structuring and implementation of business succession plans.
Ms. Sweat is admitted to practice law in Colorado and Massachusetts. She is a member of the American, Colorado and Denver Bar Associations.
Ms. Sweat received her Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the University of Arizona in 2000 and her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Denver College of Law in 2003. While at the University of Denver, Ms. Sweat represented clients before the Internal Revenue Service and the Colorado Department of Revenue as a student attorney in the DU tax clinic. Ms. Sweat completed her studies in 2004 after receiving her Master of Laws in taxation from Boston University School of Law.
Kristen enjoys the outdoors and all that Colorado has to offer, including skiing, mountain biking, fishing and hiking. She is also an avid traveler, whether it’s exploring domestically or internationally.
